Basil Fig Vodka Smash

We always know that basil compliments almost everything, but it has really been a pleasant surprise that basil/fig flavor combo makes heaven match. In this article, we've muddled, then quick-infused some basil fig vodka. It is served on the rocks with a splash of club soda. But it could be served up, as a martini as well. If the end of summer doesn’t taste like this, then I don’t know what does.





Prep time: 5 mins

Cook time: 30 mins

Total time: 35 mins

Serves: 2 – 4 drinks



Ingredients 1/2 cup basil leaves, more the garnish

1 cup fresh figs, diced

1 tablespoon honey {or preferred sweetener}

4 ounces vodkaclub sodaice


Instructions: Muddle together the basil, fig and honey until the figs are completely broken down and in a smooth, jam like consistency.





Then add in vodka and stir to combine well.





Allow the mixture to sit for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.


Strain the mixture by pressing the pulp to extract all the liquid.


When you are done, discard the pulp.


To assemble the drinks, divide the mixture {strain again if desired} into four cups and top with ice.


Top with club soda and stir.


Garnish with more fresh basil.If you want to serve this as a martini, combine the mixture with ice in a martini shake and shake vigorously for 1 minute.


Divide the mixture into two martini glass and garnish wish a spring of basil.
